Delphi and Meteora tour

Highlights:  Delphi Archaeological Site & Museum, Meteora Monasteries

Day 1 outline: Begin your tour with a scenic drive through the Levadia Plain to the archaeological site of Delphi, by common consent the most beautiful and imposing ancient site in Greece. In antiquity Delphi was regarded as the centre of the world and to this, and its oracle, the place owed its prestige, which extended far beyond the Greek world. The visit to Delphi is divided into three parts: the Sanctuary of Apollo with the Stadion; the Castalian spring & the Sanctuary of Athena at Marmaria and the Museum.  After some free time for lunch in the village of Delphi, continue northbound to Kalambaka, a small Town situated at the foot of the astonishing complex of Meteora, gigantic rocks with astonishing overhanging monasteries. Overnight in Kalambaka.

Day 2 outline: In the morning, start with a visit to the marvellous monasteries of Meteora. These monasteries are breathtaking structures sitting atop gray-rock pinnacles jutting over 2km into the Sky (Meteora means "hanging between Heaven and Earth"). Visit two of the four or five monasteries still in use and view the ancient manuscripts, ornate icons and Byzantine artifacts. Return to Athens via Trikala and Lamia with a short stop at Thermopylae to visit Leonidas’ Monument.
